Advocacy Link

Advocacy Link is a WHFS social enterprise begun in 2009 to provide an immediate advocacy service for any agency across the borough and in neighbouring boroughs. The bilingual advocates are a trained and experienced team who mainly live locally and consequently have an understanding of the health, cultural and social needs of their communities. The languages provided are:

Arabic, Bengali, Cantonese, Mandarin, Portuguese, Somali, Swahili, Turkish and Vietnamese.

Bilingual health advocates provide language support and work to educate and empower their clients through health advice, health education sessions such as management of long term conditions, screening, ante natal and sexual health. The advocates are also professionally trained in research techniques, including one to one interviewing, focus groups, transcription and translation.
