Identifying the Barriers Preventing Parents from Getting their Children Immunised

WHFS partnered ppre Limited on a piece of qualitative research work intended to inform future interventions to increase child immunisation uptake. The broad strategy of the research was to disaggregate the non-immunising households in order to tailor interventions to specific sub-groups. Conclusions from the research highlighted the large number of children having had partial immunisation, conflicting messages from the health service – some about choice and empowerment and some more top-down, and the fact that there is still much concern amongst parents regarding the causes of autism and immunisation especially in the Somali community.
